KOORTWAH is a musical and visual project by Jake Courtois. New York based Courtois focuses on 'electronic rock'. As well as being beautiful, he has the most unique voice that works so well over his beats and sounds.
Courtois incorporates the fresh sound of electronic rock with the lyrical depth and narrative qualities of more thoughtful songwriting. Reminiscent of and inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode, Leonard Cohen, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Philip Glass, James, Pet Shop Boys, Roxy Music, New Order, Brian Eno, Michael Nyman, Smashing Pumpkins and more, KOORTWAH manages to pay homage to the glory of the past while exploring the fervour of the future, marrying live rock instrumentation to a collection of digital programming and analog synths . By integrating the songs into a carefully curated collection of video projections during live performances, KOORTWAH creates an immersive multimedia environment that is at once urgent and poignant, bombastic and mysterious.
